There's no need to compromise...

- La Viéville, is a hamlet ('hameau') of Mandeville en Bessin, on the edge of the
village, which has its own Mairie and Church.
- It is under two miles (3kms) from Trévières, a thriving small town with all the
amenities and services you could need.
- It's only 10 minutes drive to the beach
- Quiet, but not isolated. It is 10 minutes to Bayeux and the same distance to the
Route National 13.
- Because it is so unspoilt, it is a popular destination for 'maison secondaire',
with owners from France, the Netherlands, the UK and beyond. This area is so popular that by 2006, almost
20% of homes in Calvados were second homes!
- How does this region of Normandy compare with other parts of France?
Its a modern home with country living!
- Calvados is excellent value for money. Property is less expensive than further
north - because it's outside the daily commuting distance to Paris - but you have access to all of the same amenities.
- Being located at a crossroads between a minor road and a country lane, there is
some passing local traffic but very little road noise and that is mostly from farm equipment.
- It's a modernised stone farmhouse. Up to date but retaining its period features:
beams and stonework.
If you want an overnight, city 'pied de terre' this may not be for you.
- But, if you want access to city restaurants and shops you can be in Caen in 40
minutes, Rouen in 70 and the centre of Paris in two and a half hours.
- Its convenient for the ferry ports of Cherborg, Caen, Le Havre and Rouen, so
week-end's away - with full days in France - are actually achievable!
- It comes with a range of charming stone buildings ready for conversion into
cottages or gites.
- If you value space and tranquility over convenience with congestion, this French country location within minutes of towns
could be ideal.
- If art is of interest, Normandy ranks with Paris as the cradle of impressionism.

Don't know the Normandy Bessin?
- The Bessin is an area in Normandy, corresponding to the ancient territory of the
gaulish tribe , the Bajocasse, who also gave
their name to the city of
Bayeux, central town of the Bessin. The name of Normandy
is derived from the settlement and conquest of the territory by
Vikings from the 9th century, and confirmed by
treaty in the 10th century. For a century and a half following the
Norman Conquest of England in 1066, Normandy and
England were linked by Norman rulers, but following 1204 all of Normandy was ultimately held by France. The Bessin is primarily a cattle
rearing region, although cider, calvados, fishing and tourism are also major
activities. Much of it is enclosed within the 'Parc Regional du Marais du
Cotentin et du Bessin'.
